So, in case any of you are wondering, Derya and I have officially been together for 2 years. On this day in 2007 we made everything official and said our nuptials in front of our family and some random judge at the courthouse. Our Wedding itself would be a year later, but the big step was taken ahead of time. We've had a crazy 2 years too...with planning the wedding for basically the entire first year, and then this entire 2nd year we've been building/buying our house! We've both come a long way from working 2-3 jobs in highschool/college to get to where we are today, working at Nationwide and creating a home out of the house we built. It's amazing to look back 5 years ago, and try to remember what we were planning on our lives being at that time. A favorite saying of ours is "From Where to Where..." And what a true statement that is. Anytime you look back on your life you should be able to point out the big steps, the "life changing" moments. I know for me, that moment was standing in front of the Stephenson Center at OU-C and asking a beautiful librarian assistant if she had ever seen Paint Creek Dam. She said no, and then I asked her 1/2 jokingly if she wanted to see it. When she said "sure, pick me up at 5:30" I knew that my life was going to be altered in some way. I didn't know how completely and positively my life would be affected, but I knew that it would be affected. Ever since that day, June 18, 2004 (we actually went to the dam on the 19th, hence the wedding date of 11/19) my life has been constantly improving, moving forward in the best of ways. My life would not be complete without Derya in it, and I have no idea where I would be, or what I would be doing without such a positive influence in my life.
Love is not knowing what you're getting in to, and not caring as long as that person is by your side. And that is exactly how our relationship is!
